- Now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God require of you, but to fear Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, and to serve Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul, to keep Yahweh’s commandments and statutes, which I command you today for your good?
- You shall keep his statutes and his commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for all time.
- It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
- A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.
- I wait for Yahweh.
My soul waits.
I hope in his word. - But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own.
- Though an army should encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear.
Though war should rise against me,
even then I will be confident. - Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.
- In God, I praise his word.
In God, I put my trust.
I will not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me? - Yahweh is on my side. I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me? - Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword.
- For there is not a word on my tongue,
but behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether. - When I said, “My foot is slipping!”
Your loving kindness, Yahweh, held me up. - These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
- Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning,
for I trust in you.
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
for I lift up my soul to you. - For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the end that you may be established; that is, that I with you may be encouraged in you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.
- My soul, wait in silence for God alone,
for my expectation is from him. - The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.”
- Praise Yahweh, my soul!
All that is within me, praise his holy name! - Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
- I will establish my covenant with you: All flesh will not be cut off any more by the waters of the flood. There will never again be a flood to destroy the earth.
- But you go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
- I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.
- But he knows the way that I take.
When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
My foot has held fast to his steps.
I have kept his way, and not turned away. - Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to Yahweh’s house.”’
