You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men. | You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, what can be done to make it salty once again? It is no longer good for anything, and thus it is cast out and trampled underfoot. |
It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling. | It is honorable to avoid strife, but every fool is quarrelsome. |

I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches. | I rejoice in following your statutes more than I would rejoice in endless riches. |
Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you. | Whom do I have in heaven except you? And besides you there is nothing else I desire on earth. |
Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets. | In everything, deal with others as you would like them to deal with you. This is the Law and the Prophets. |
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs. | Hatred stirs up strife, but love overlooks all offenses. |
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. | However, the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you. |
If you will diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh who heals you. | If you listen to the voice of the Lord, your God, and you do what is right in his sight, if you listen to his ordinances and observe all of his laws, I will not bring upon you any of the diseases that I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you. |
Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. | Shun evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. |
Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. | Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares about you. |
Guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation. I wait for you all day long. | Guide me in your truth and instruct me, for you are God, my Savior, and in you I hope all the day long. |
Jesus answered, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom.” | Jesus said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” |
The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.” | But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.” |
Jesus answered him, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.” | Jesus replied, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” |
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. | Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord rather than relying on your own intelligence. In everything you do, acknowledge him, and he will see that your paths are straight. |
I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. | I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will ever snatch them from my hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. |
Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no kind of work. It is a Sabbath to Yahweh in all your dwellings. | For six days work can be done, but the seventh is a Sabbath of rest, a holy assembly. You will do no work on it; it is a Sabbath of the Lord in all of your dwellings. |
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. | For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for a life of good works that God had prepared for us to do. |
If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing. | If I give away everything to feed the poor and hand over my body to be burned, but do not have love, I achieve nothing. |
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work. | And God is able to enrich you with an abundance of every grace, so that, with all of your needs provided for, you may be able to produce a surplus of good works. |
Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. | Therefore, whenever you give alms, do not trumpet your generosity, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets in order to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have already received their reward. |
As he came out of his mother’s womb, naked shall he go again as he came, and shall take nothing for his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. | Just as he came forth naked from his mother’s womb, so shall he depart, naked as he came, with nothing remaining from his labor that he can carry away in his hands. |
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. | Beloved, I pray that everything is going well with you and that your bodily health is equal to that of your soul. |
