Bible Verses about Dependence
For I, Yahweh your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’ | For I, the Lord, am your God and I grasp your right hand. It is I who say to you, Do not fear; I will help you. |
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. | Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord rather than relying on your own intelligence. In everything you do, acknowledge him, and he will see that your paths are straight. |
A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. | A man may plan his own course, but the Lord makes his steps secure. |
My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. | Even should my heart and my flesh fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever. |
I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. | I lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where will I receive help? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. |
There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail. | Many are the plans in a human mind, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail. |
I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. | I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing. |
He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. | He gives strength to the weary and new vigor to those who are powerless. |
Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. | I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. |
He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. | He will not permit your foot to stumble; he who guards you will not fall asleep. |
Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient. | So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own. |
Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. | The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall lack. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me to tranquil streams. |
I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. | I keep the Lord always before me, for with him at my right hand I will never fall. |
Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. | Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited. |

All things belong to you, and everything that we have given you is from your hand. |
In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; yes, God has made the one side by side with the other, to the end that man should not find out anything after him. | When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings, and in times of adversity consider this: God has made both of them, so that we cannot predict with confidence what the future holds. |
