| If anyone is rich in worldly possessions and sees a brother in need but refuses to open his heart, how can the love of God abide in him? | But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? |
| The way of God is blameless, and the Lord’s promise proves true; he is a shield to all who flee to him for safety. | As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. |

When he lies, he speaks in accord with his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. | You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. |
| For it has been granted you not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him. | For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake. |
| Then Jesus said to those Jews who did believe in him, “If you remain faithful to my word, you will truly be my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” | Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” |
