It is rash to pledge a sacred gift, or to make a vow and then have second thoughts.Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.
How wonderful and delightful it is for brothers to live together in unity.How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!
Then he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which will be given for you. Do this in memory of me.”He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, what can be done to make it salty once again? It is no longer good for anything, and thus it is cast out and trampled underfoot.You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
At the time that discipline is received, it always seems painful rather than pleasant, but afterward it yields a harvest of peace and uprightness to those who have been trained by it.No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
Jesus replied, “Blessed, rather, are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
Therefore, I say to you: ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
Guard your heart with all possible vigilance, for from it flow the wellsprings of life.Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!”
But what I tell you is this: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, since it is God’s throne, or by earth, since that is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the great King.But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. And do not say, ‘By the earth!’ because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the city of the great King.
But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience.But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.
As much as possible, and to the extent of your ability, live in peace with everyone.Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life?And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
It is honorable to avoid strife, but every fool is quarrelsome.Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.

Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
You intended to do evil to me, but God decided to make it serve a good, to fulfill that which today has come true: to keep alive a numerous people.You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.

For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith. This has not come from you but from the gift of God. It does not come from works, so that no one can boast.God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
A fool gives free rein to his anger, but a wise man bides his time and calms it.Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

The name of the Lord is a tower of strength; the upright man runs to it and finds refuge.The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.
