But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”
But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows.It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows.
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil.Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
