Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.” | But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” |
Let us remain firm in the confession of our hope without wavering, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy. | Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. |

Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. | Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
Let mutual love continue, and do not forget to offer hospitality to strangers, for by doing this some have entertained angels without knowing it. | Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. |
So today acknowledge it and take it to heart that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on the earth below. There is no other. | Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. |
Banish grief from your heart and ignore the sufferings of your body, for youth and the prime of life are fleeting. | Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, And put away evil from your flesh, For childhood and youth are vanity. |
He proclaimed his covenant to you which he ordered you to fulfill, the Ten Commandments, that he wrote upon two tablets of stone. | So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone. |
If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. | If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. |
For all of us fall short in many ways. Anyone who never makes a mistake in speech has reached perfection and is able to control every part of his body. | For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. |
Rather, I discipline my body and bring it under control, for fear that after preaching to others I myself may be disqualified. | But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. |
The Lord will battle for you. Be calm! | The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. |
For the Lord loves the just, and he will not forsake his faithful ones. Those who follow evil paths will be destroyed, and the children of the wicked will be cut off. | For the Lord loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. |
By faith Abraham also received the power of procreation, even though he was well past the age—and Sarah herself was barren—because he believed that the one who had made the promise would be faithful in fulfilling it. | By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. |
When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, for God has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill the vow you have made. | When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; For He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed. |
You shall observe the Sabbath by keeping it holy, as the Lord, your God, has commanded you. You are to labor on six days, doing all of your work then. The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, your God. You shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your ass, nor your cattle, nor even the foreigner living in your town. Thus your manservant and maidservant can rest as well. | Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. |
You, O Lord, are light for my lamp; O my God, you make my darkness turn to light. | For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. |
Ensure that the path you tread is level, and then your ways will be sure. | Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. |
Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord. I will not look upon you in anger. For I am merciful, says the Lord; my wrath will not continue forever. | ‘Return, backsliding Israel,’ says the Lord; ‘I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful,’ says the Lord; ‘I will not remain angry forever.’ |
Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble. | Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous. |
Whoever gains wisdom loves his own soul; one who cherishes understanding will prosper. | He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good. |
Do not be lacking in zeal, but serve the Lord with spiritual fervor. | Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. |
You have given me the shield of your salvation; your right hand sustains me, and your goodness makes me great. You broadened the path beneath me so that my feet have never stumbled. | You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me, So my feet did not slip. |
I urge you, brethren, to watch out for those who incite dissensions and obstacles in opposition to the teaching that you have learned. Take care to avoid them. | Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. |
However, the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. | But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. |
Everyone who sins comes from the devil, for the devil has been a sinner from the very beginning. The Son of God appeared for this very purpose: to destroy the work of the devil. | He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. |
