| The powerful suffer want and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord want for no good thing. | The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing. |
| Place your hope in the Lord: be strong and courageous in your heart, and place your hope in the Lord. | Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. |
| If anyone would boast, let him boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is really approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. | But “he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.” For it isn’t he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends. |
| Therefore, while we have the opportunity, let us labor for the good of all, but especially for those members of the household of the faith. | So then, as we have opportunity, let’s do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith. |

| Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of your opportunity. Let your speech always be gracious and seasoned with wisdom, so that you will know how to respond properly to all. | Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. |
| Therefore, let us cease passing judgment on one another, but rather judge never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. | Therefore let’s not judge one another any more, but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block in his brother’s way, or an occasion for falling. |
| Who among you is wise and understanding? Prove by your good life that your works are done with the humility that comes from wisdom. | Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom. |
