Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake. | Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. |
Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man’s neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind. | Then I came to realize that all toil and skill in work derive from one person’s envy of another. This also is vanity and a chase after the wind. |

He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.” | After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.” |
If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless. | If anyone thinks that he is religious but does not restrain his tongue, he is deceiving himself, and his religion is worthless. |
For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ. | The body is one, although it has many parts; and all the parts, though many, form one body. So it is with Christ. |
A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. | Some friends can lead us to ruin, but a true friend is closer than a brother. |
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. | Blessed is the person who has found wisdom, the one who has gained understanding. |
He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth. | He brought you low, allowing you to suffer from hunger. He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord. |
For the Son of Man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. | For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. |
But many will be last who are first, and first who are last. | But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first. |
Even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. | In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. |
For as many as have sinned without the law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. | All those who have sinned outside the Law will perish outside the Law, and all who sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law. |
But the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. | However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many. |
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. | Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. |
For since death came by man, the resurrection of the dead also came by man. | For since death came into the world through a man, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a man. |
Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many. | Listen, my son, and take my words to heart, and the years of your life will be multiplied. |
As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent. | I reprove and discipline all those whom I love. Therefore, be sincere in your desire to repent. |
That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar. | A man’s attraction is his kindness; it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. |
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all. | The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. |
For Yahweh your God will bless you, as he promised you. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. You will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you. | The Lord, your God, will bless you as he promised you. You will lend to many nations, but borrow from none. You shall rule over many nations, but none shall rule over you. |
For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. | For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another. |
One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind. | One person may consider one day to be more sacred than another, while another may judge all days to be alike. Let everyone be convinced in his own beliefs. |
But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name. | However, to those who did accept him and who believed in his name he granted the power to become children of God. |
Yahweh God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. | The Lord God then formed a woman out of the rib that he had taken from the man. He brought her before the man. The man said, “This one is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman because she was taken from man.” This is why a man leaves his father and his mother and joins with a wife, and the two become one flesh. |
In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. | In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? |
