| Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. | A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word! | Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time! |
| To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. | The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth. |
| Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. | In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely. |
| Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.” | Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.” |
| Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. | Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. |
