| I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. | The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” |
| For Yahweh’s word is right. All his work is done in faithfulness. | For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. |
| He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the loving kindness of Yahweh. | He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth. |
| By Yahweh’s word, the heavens were made: all their army by the breath of his mouth. | The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. |
| Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance. | What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. |
| Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness. | But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. |
| Let your loving kindness be on us, Yahweh, since we have hoped in you. | Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone. |
| I will bless Yahweh at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. | I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. |
| I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. | I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. |
| This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. | In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. |
| Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. | Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! |
| The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing. | Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. |
| Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies. | Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! |
| Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. | Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. |
| Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. |
| Yahweh’s face is against those who do evil, to cut off their memory from the earth. | But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. |
| The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. | The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. |
| Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all. | The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. |
| Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned. | But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. |
| Trust in Yahweh, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture. | Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. |
