The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing. | The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. |
Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies. | Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. |
|
Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. | Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. |
Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry. |
Yahweh’s face is against those who do evil, to cut off their memory from the earth. | But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. |
The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. | The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. |
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all. | The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. |
Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned. | The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. |
Trust in Yahweh, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture. | Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. |
Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. | Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. |
Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noon day sun. | Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. |
Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. | Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. |
Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Yahweh upholds the righteous. | Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous. |
The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously. | The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously. |
A man’s steps are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. | The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him. |
For Yahweh loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. | For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish. |
Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you. | All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. |
Hear my prayer, Yahweh, and give ear to my cry. Don’t be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were. | Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. |
I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your law is within my heart. | I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart. |
Don’t withhold your tender mercies from me, Yahweh. Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me. | Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; may your love and faithfulness always protect me. |
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God. | As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. |
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? | My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? |
Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me. | Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. |
Yahweh will command his loving kindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: a prayer to the God of my life. | By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. |
Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God. | Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. |
