It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him. | The saying is sure: If we have died with him, we will also live with him. |

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. | And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” |
And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? | I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ |
But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. | When Jesus heard this, he replied, “Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be saved.” |
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. | And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” |
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? |
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. | Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!” |
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. | Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. |
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. | On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me.” |
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. | If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true. |
And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. | Cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ |
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. | From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” |
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. | Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.” |
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. | So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” |
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. | Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! |
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. | Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” |
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. | Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. |
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. | Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” |
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. | So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. |
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. | But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ |
For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. | For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, ‘I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles, so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ |
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. | He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” |
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. | No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one. |
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. | I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter. |
