- The fear of man lays a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. - Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. - The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
when he delights in his way. - The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps. - In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. - Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. - Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. - For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good.
The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us.
