He does not slander with his tongue, Nor do evil to his neighbor, Nor bring shame on his friend. |
Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. | The one who has found his life will lose it, and the one who has lost his life on My account will find it. |
For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it. | For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, this is the one who will save it. |
With their mouths the godless would destroy their neighbors, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered. | With his mouth the godless person destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be rescued. |
For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. | For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. |
As they came from their mother's womb, so they shall go again, naked as they came; they shall take nothing for their toil, which they may carry away with their hands. | As he came naked from his mother’s womb, so he will return as he came. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it. | For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. |
Fools show their anger at once, but the prudent ignore an insult. | A fool’s anger is known at once, But a prudent person conceals dishonor. |
Happy are those who keep his decrees, who seek him with their whole heart. | Blessed are those who comply with His testimonies, And seek Him with all their heart. |
For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? | For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? |
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. | Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. |
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, And His ears are toward their cry for help. |
