Their (4/4)

A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means.
And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had.
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.
The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke. The rich can pay a ransom for their lives, but the poor won’t even get threatened.
