| And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. | He replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.” |
| For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. | For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God. |
| What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? |
| And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. | You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it. |
| Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. | No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. |
| And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. | Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. |
| But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. | The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. |
| Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. | Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world. |
| For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. | For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen. |
| But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. | But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. |
| Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. | “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” |
| His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. | The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ |
| And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. | All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. |
| For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. | For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. |
| Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. | But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. |
| He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. | He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! |
| Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. | And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! |
| Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. | Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come. |
| But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. | Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. |
| These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. | I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! |
| Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. | Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit. |
| And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. | In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. |
| Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. | Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. |
| But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. | Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. |
| And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. | Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. |
