| For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so too do we believe that God will bring forth with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. |

| Can anyone withhold the water of baptism from these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? | Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us. |
| We know that God makes all things work together for good for those who love him and who are called according to his purpose. | We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. |
| In Christ and through his blood we have redemption and the forgiveness of our sins. In accord with the riches of his grace. | In him we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. |
| God’s love was revealed to us in this way: God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might have life through him. | By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his only born Son into the world that we might live through him. |
| See what love the Father has bestowed on us, enabling us to be called the children of God, and that is what we are. If the world does not recognize us, that is because it did not know him. | See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him. |
