| What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? | What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? |
| And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You. | Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. |
| One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And one who rules his spirit, than one who captures a city. | Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. |

| One who guards his mouth protects his life; One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. | Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything. |
| But many who are first will be last; and the last, first. | But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then. |
| But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.” | When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.” |
| And he would answer and say to them, “The one who has two tunics is to share with the one who has none; and the one who has food is to do likewise.” | John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.” |
| And those who are in the flesh cannot please God. | That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. |
| Blessed are those who comply with His testimonies, And seek Him with all their heart. | Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. |
| One who gets wisdom loves his own soul; One who keeps understanding will find good. | To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. |
| Truly, truly I say to you, the one who receives anyone I send, receives Me; and the one who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. | I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me. |
| Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. | God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. |
| You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. | But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. |
| I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. | For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. |
| One who pays attention to the word will find good, And blessed is one who trusts in the Lord. | Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful. |
| Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. | Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. |
| That they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. | They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them. |
| Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, But counselors of peace have joy. | Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace! |
| Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. | Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. |
| But now in Christ Jesus you who previously were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. | But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. |
| For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. | The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. |
| But the one who boasts is to boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself that is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. | As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them. |
