Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!
All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher, and he gives the farmer great wisdom.
Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.
Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.
Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord.
The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others. Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?
He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love.
I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.
For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.”The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.”
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
