Bible Verses about Rest
- Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
- Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him. - In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety. - This is what the Lord says:
“Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” - The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters. - Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” - There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
- Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
- Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. - Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
- Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do.
- The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
- Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.
