“If you will not listen, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to my name,” says Yahweh of Armies, “then I will send the curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have cursed them already, because you do not take it to heart.” | If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. |
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine. | Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine. |

Now accept one who is weak in faith, but not for disputes over opinions. | As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. |
But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. | But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. |
You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. | You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. |
Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. | Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. |
For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them. | For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. |
Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. | You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. |
Now who will harm you if you become imitators of that which is good? | Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? |
You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. | You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. |
Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.” | And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.” |
Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. | Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops. |
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. | For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. |
As newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow. | Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation. |
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. | Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. |
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. | Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. |
Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God. | Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. |
But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer. | The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. |
Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. | Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. |
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |
Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in Yahweh. | Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord! |
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. | But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. |
There is one body and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling. | There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call. |
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to the whole creation.” | And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” |
For sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace. | For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. |
