Now in regard to the eating of meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world and that there is only one God. | Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “no idol in the world really exists,” and that “there is no God but one.” |
Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so. For your faith grows ever more, and the love that all of you have for one another continues to increase. | We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of everyone of you for one another is increasing. |

Brethren, you were called to freedom. However, make sure that you do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Instead, serve one another in love. | For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another. |
Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the one who sustains me. | But surely, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. |
As long as the goodwill is present, the gift will be acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. | For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have. |
In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. | Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. |
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single letter, not even a tiny portion of a letter, will disappear from the Law until all things have been accomplished. | For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. |
Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited. | Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. |
And just as no human being comprehends any person’s innermost being except the person’s own spirit within him, so also no one comprehends what pertains to God except the Spirit of God. | For what human being knows what is truly human except the human spirit that is within? So also no one comprehends what is truly God's except the Spirit of God. |
May the God of perseverance and encouragement grant that you may live in harmony with one another, following in the example of Jesus Christ. | May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus. |
Blessed is the person who has found wisdom, the one who has gained understanding. | Happy are those who find wisdom, and those who get understanding. |
If anyone would boast, let him boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is really approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. | “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved, but those whom the Lord commends. |
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. | Very truly, I tell you, whoever receives one whom I send receives me; and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. |
And where a single man can be overcome, two together will be able to resist. A cord with three strands is not easily broken. | And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken. |
Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord. | Pursue peace with everyone, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. |
And said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.” | And said to them, “Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me; for the least among all of you is the greatest.” |
But whoever endures to the end will be saved. | But the one who endures to the end will be saved. |
Amen, amen, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. | Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them. |
Therefore, let us cease passing judgment on one another, but rather judge never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. | Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another. |
No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a pot or places it under a bed. Rather he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. | No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light. |
No one who conceals his transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and renounces them will obtain mercy. | No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. |
Every word you utter is true, and all your righteous judgments are everlasting. | The sum of your word is truth; and every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever. |
When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your wicked ways. | When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways. |
Dear children, you are from God and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. | Little children, you are from God, and have conquered them; for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. |
However, if we live in the light as he himself is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son purifies us from all sin. | But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. |
