“The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” | The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel. |
Then he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.” | And said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all will be great.” |

My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart. | My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart. |
And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child. | Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. |
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. | So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. |
I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. | I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. |
For the word of God will never fail. | For with God nothing will be impossible. |
My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. | Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. |
The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.” | And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” |
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. | Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. |
All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). | Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. |
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.” | Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” |
Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. | You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. |
But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. | But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. |
For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. | Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever. |
I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. | These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. |
Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” | Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” |
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. | The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. |
For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. | For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. |
But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. | He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. |
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. | But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. |
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. | For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. |
But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” | But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” |
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ. | Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. |
For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. | The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. |
