Good faith (2/4)

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”Do not let anyone lead you astray. “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.And whoever does not provide for relatives, especially for those who are living with him, has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.Let no one regard you with contempt because of your youth, but serve as an example to the believers in your speech and conduct, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.Turn away from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart.
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.Through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves in Christ.
Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right?
And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.By faith Abraham also received the power of procreation, even though he was well past the age—and Sarah herself was barren—because he believed that the one who had made the promise would be faithful in fulfilling it.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith. This has not come from you but from the gift of God. It does not come from works, so that no one can boast.
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.The love of money is the root of all evils, and in their desire for it some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many serious wounds.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.Each of us must consider his neighbor’s good for the purpose of building him up.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his mercy endures forever.
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.But according to Scripture all things have been confined under sin, so that through faith in Jesus Christ what was promised might be given to those who believe.
For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.He has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.If I have the gift of prophecy and the ability to understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and have all the faith necessary to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.Then you will understand equity and justice as well as righteousness—every good path.
I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.For I am longing to see you so that I may bestow on you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or, rather, so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!How wonderful and delightful it is for brothers to live together in unity.
But test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.Test everything, and hold fast to what is good. Avoid every form of evil.
The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.The Lord is good, an unfailing refuge in a time of distress. He takes care of those who place their trust in him.
