And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.Guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend.
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold. My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside.
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy.Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways, for the devious person is an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments!
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.
And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.
