Dear children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth. | My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. |
Jesus replied, “Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.” | Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. |

This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another. | By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. |
Jesus replied, “This is the work of God: to believe in the one whom he has sent.” | Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. |
By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. | Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. |
And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
“Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again. “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” | Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. |
Through him all things came into existence, and without him there was nothing. That which came to be. | All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. |
For from the beginning you have heard the message that we should love one another. | For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
Who indeed conquers the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? | Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? |
Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you have faith you will see the glory of God?” | Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? |
God abides in anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, and that person abides in God. | Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. |
Whatever you ask in my name I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
Whoever possesses the Son possesses life; whoever does not possess the Son of God does not possess life. | He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. |
And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. | And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. |
I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. | These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. |
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever. | And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. |
This is the commandment we have received from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. | And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. |
This is how we can be certain that we abide in him and that he abides in us: he has given us a share in his Spirit. | Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. |
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. | If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. |
If you know me, then you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him. You have seen him. | If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. |
Jesus then said, “I will remain with you only for a short time longer, and then I shall return to him who sent me.” | Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. |
I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to protect them from the evil one. | I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. |
Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” | Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. |
And eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent, Jesus Christ. | And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. |
