| If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. | He is not here. He has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and rise again on the third day. | He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. |
| You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. | Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. |
| As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the wits of his neighbor. | Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. |
| With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me? | The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? |
| Jesus traveled all throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every type of disease and illness among the people. | And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. |
| A wise man will heed commandments, but a babbling fool will come to grief. | The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. |
| The one who leads a blameless life and does what is right, who speaks the truth from the heart and does not slander anyone, who does not harm a friend and does not scorn a neighbor. | He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. |
| One day, as Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the Sabbath, his disciples began to pick some heads of grain as they walked along. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are your disciples doing what is forbidden on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the sacred bread that only the priests were permitted to eat, and he shared it with his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” | And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. |
| The fear of others will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is secure. | The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. |
| A man’s attraction is his kindness; it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. | The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. |
| The name of the Lord is a tower of strength; the upright man runs to it and finds refuge. | The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. |
