When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” | And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” |
For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. | For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. |
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. | Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. |
Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake. | Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! |
Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles. | To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles. |
And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” | And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” |
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. | Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine. |
Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” | And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” |
How they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. | They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. |
And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. | You shall be holy to me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine. |
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. | I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak. |
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. | But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. |
Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. | Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. |
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. | Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. |
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. | Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. |
The wicked man does deceptive work, But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. | The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward. |
I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. | Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. |
By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom. | By insolence comes nothing but strife, but with those who take advice is wisdom. |
I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations. | I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. |
The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree— All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men. | The vine dries up; the fig tree languishes. Pomegranate, palm, and apple, all the trees of the field are dried up, and gladness dries up from the children of man. |
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. | How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. |
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. | The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen. |
Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! | Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! |
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. | By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. |
In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? | In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? |
