When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” | Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well pleased.” |
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. | Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. |
Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake. | Blessed are you when the people hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man. |
When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” | And He summoned the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” |
And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” | And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among the people, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” |
Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles. | So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place, as to whether the Christ was to suffer, and whether, as first from the resurrection of the dead, He would proclaim light both to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles. |
Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” | And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of people.” |
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. | Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine. |
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. | But I tell you that for every careless word that people speak, they will give an account of it on the day of judgment. |
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. | But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction. |
How they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. | That they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. |
And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. | So you are to be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy; and I have singled you out from the peoples to be Mine. |
Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. | Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. |
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. | So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. |
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. | By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another. |
I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. | I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. |
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. | Do not participate in the useless deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. |
The wicked man does deceptive work, But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. | A wicked person earns deceptive wages, But one who sows righteousness gets a true reward. |
By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom. | Through overconfidence comes nothing but strife, But wisdom is with those who receive counsel. |
I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations. | I will give thanks to You, Lord, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations. |
The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree— All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men. | The vine has dried up And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree, All the trees of the field have dried up. Indeed, joy has dried up From the sons of mankind. |
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. | How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. |
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age. | For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age. |
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. | The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen. |
Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! | Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make His deeds known among the peoples. |
