Prosper and be in health (2/4)

  • For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.
  • So is my word that goes out from my mouth:
    It will not return to me empty,
    but will accomplish what I desire
    and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
  • I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.
  • I will extol the Lord at all times;
    his praise will always be on my lips.
  • “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
  • You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
  • Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
  • Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;
    do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.
  • Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
    and be steadfast in all your ways.
  • Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
  • He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’
  • And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.
  • So that I may come to you with joy, by God’s will, and in your company be refreshed.
  • In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.
  • Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
  • They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
  • Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.
  • And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.
  • I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.
  • Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
    rather, he made himself nothing
    by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
    And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
    even death on a cross!
  • When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.
  • Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)
  • Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!
  • But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
  • But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.”

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
