Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,” and begin to reflect only after making a vow.
People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart.
The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life and honor.
Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!All day long the wicked covet, but the righteous give and do not hold back.

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.

Better is a neighbor who is nearby than kindred who are far away.
A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.The clever see danger and hide; but the simple go on, and suffer for it.
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens the wits of another.
As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.Just as water reflects the face, so one human heart reflects another.
God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law.When one will not listen to the law, even one's prayers are an abomination.
People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.A fool gives full vent to anger, but the wise quietly holds it back.
Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor.A person's pride will bring humiliation, but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.The fear of others lays a snare, but one who trusts in the Lord is secure.
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that I need.
