A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.
Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.Children’s children are the crown of old men; the glory of children is their parents.
Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool; even less are lies fitting for a ruler.Excellent speech isn’t fitting for a fool, much less do lying lips fit a prince.

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise. When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning.
Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.
