Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. | Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. |
For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. | For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. |
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. | How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. |
Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You. | You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. |
Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy. | Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. |
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. | Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. |
And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ | Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’ |

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. | So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ ” | And he went to the place of the dead.
