This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. | This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. |
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. | And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood.” |

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. | Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” |
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. | My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. |
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. | The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. |
And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. | The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. |
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. | Sober up morally and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. |
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. | And looking at them, Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” |
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. | But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. |
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. | Do not say, “Why is it that the former days were better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this. |
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. | Now I say this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows generously will also reap generously. |
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. | Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. |
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. | This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. |
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. | And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. |
For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. | For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. |
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. | One who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor one who loves abundance with its income. This too is futility. |
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. | For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. |
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. | To whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory. |
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. | For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus. |
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. | By this the love of God was revealed in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. |
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. | Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.’ |
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. | I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats from this bread, he will live forever; and the bread which I will give for the life of the world also is My flesh. |
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. | He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief cornerstone. |
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. | Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. |
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. | For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. |
