| The heart is devious above all else; it is perverse— who can understand it? I the Lord test the mind and search the heart, to give to all according to their ways, according to the fruit of their doings. | The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. |
| I did not shrink from doing anything helpful, proclaiming the message to you and teaching you publicly and from house to house. | And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house. |

| To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. | For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. |

| Fine speech is not becoming to a fool; still less is false speech to a ruler. | Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince. |

| Come to a sober and right mind, and sin no more; for some people have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. | Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. |
| “Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!” | But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. |
| Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. | Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. |
| Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” | And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. |
| For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. | For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. |
| Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. | And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. |
| And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him. | And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. |
| Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord. | Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. |
| But the one who endures to the end will be saved. | But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. |
| But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. | But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. |
| The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. | The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. |
| For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well. | For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake. |
| No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness. | Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. |
