| The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. | The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. |
| Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one. | But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. |

| As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching. | But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. |
| The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. | By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. |
| Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool. | He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. |
| For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. | For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. |
| The godly are showered with blessings; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. | Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. |

| But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. | Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God. | For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. |
| If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive. | If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. |

| But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’ If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared. | And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. |
| The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth. | Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. |
| I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ | And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? |
| In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!” | And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. |
| Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. | And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. |
| I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. | I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. |
| Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart. | The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. |
| After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
