Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. | And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. |
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? | For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? |
For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh. | For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh. |
I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world. | These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. |
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. | For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age. |
The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever. | The world is passing away and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God continues to live forever. |
You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. | You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. |
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s. | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. |
For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. | For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either. If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. |
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to the whole creation.” | And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” |
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. | For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. |
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool that he may become wise. | Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. |

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. | Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful. |
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? | For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul? |
God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that don’t exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist, that no flesh should boast before God. | And the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no human may boast before God. |
