- Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
- He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with him. - I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks.
- To you, O God of my fathers,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of you,
for you have made known to us the king's matter. - We have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules.
- Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.
