Bible Verses about Goodness

Rather, be kind to one another and compassionate, and forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Therefore, while we have the opportunity, let us labor for the good of all, but especially for those members of the household of the faith. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
The Lord is good, an unfailing refuge in a time of distress. He takes care of those who place their trust in him.The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways and merciful in everything he does. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.
I am confident that I will behold the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
“All things are lawful,” you may say—but not all things are beneficial. All things may be lawful—but not all things are constructive.“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
In view of all this, you should make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with piety, and piety with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
And God is able to enrich you with an abundance of every grace, so that, with all of your needs provided for, you may be able to produce a surplus of good works. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Nor would someone light a lamp and then put it under a basket; rather, it is placed upon a lampstand so that it may afford light to all in the house. In the same way, your light must shine so that it can be seen by others; this will enable them to observe your good works and give praise to your Father in heaven.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Put your trust in the Lord and do good, that you may dwell in the land and be secure.Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
A man’s attraction is his kindness; it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right?Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?

Be mindful, O Lord, that mercy and kindness have been yours from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my many transgressions, but remember me in your kindness, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord.Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.
Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners.Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
These are the words of the Lord of hosts: Stand at the crossroads and look around; ask for the ancient paths. When you are shown where the good way lies, walk along it and your souls will find rest. However, they said, “We will not take it.”This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”
Do not let anyone lead you astray. “Bad company corrupts good morals.”Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

He gave himself for us in order to deliver us from all iniquity and to purify for himself a people as his own who are eager to do good.Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
For light produces all goodness and righteousness and truth. For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth.
I also ask that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing. They should be adorned not with braided hair or with gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is fitting for women who profess their reverence for God.I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

The Lord God said, “Behold, man has become like one of us, for he has knowledge of that which is good and that which is evil. Now, we must prevent him from reaching out and taking the fruit of the tree of life lest he eat it and live forever.” The Lord God cast him out of the Garden of Eden; henceforth he was to labor tilling the soil from which he had come. And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
