15 Bible Verses about Greed - NIV & KJV

Whoever loves money never has enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.
This too is meaningless.
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Dishonest money dwindles away,
but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.
Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished:
but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
All day long he craves for more,
but the righteous give without sparing.
He coveteth greedily all the day long:
but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
Do not wear yourself out to get rich;
do not trust your own cleverness.
Labour not to be rich:
cease from thine own wisdom.
Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb,
and as everyone comes, so they depart.
They take nothing from their toil
that they can carry in their hands.
As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
Turn my heart toward your statutes
and not toward selfish gain.
Incline my heart unto thy testimonies,
and not to covetousness.
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing.For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
