You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am. | You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. |
So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. | And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. |

Truly, truly I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. | I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. |
Truly, truly I say to you, the one who receives anyone I send, receives Me; and the one who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. | I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me. |
I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. | So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. |
By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another. | Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. |
