Law (2/5)

For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for the justification of all who believe.
This commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother. This is the commandment we have received from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
For sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace. For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace.
If you love me, keep my commandments. If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”What then should we say? That the Law is sinful? Absolutely not! Yet if it had not been for the Law, I would not have known what sin was. I would not have known what covet is if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law.
And keep the instruction of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn yourself.Observe the ordinances of the Lord, your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and what he witnessed in writing in the law of Moses. In this way you will prosper in whatever you do and wherever you go.
Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged.Do not judge, so that you in turn may not be judged.
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”“You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and every other commandment are all summed up in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
He declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments. He wrote them on two stone tablets. He proclaimed his covenant to you which he ordered you to fulfill, the Ten Commandments, that he wrote upon two tablets of stone.
Those who love your law have great peace. Nothing causes them to stumble. Those who love your law have great peace; they encounter no stumbling blocks.
You shall most certainly not make gods of silver or gods of gold for yourselves to be alongside me.Do not make gods from silver or from gold instead of me. You will not make them for yourselves.
Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.Love cannot result in any harm to the neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfillment of the Law.
You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace. Those of you who seek to be justified by the Law have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from grace.
The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.A wise man will heed commandments, but a babbling fool will come to grief.
He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.All those who keep his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And the proof that he abides in us is the Spirit that he has given us.
I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches.I rejoice in following your statutes more than I would rejoice in endless riches.
We have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts and from your ordinances. We have sinned and done what is wrong, we have acted wickedly and rebelled, we have rejected your commandments and your laws.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins; and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another? There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save or to destroy. Who then are you to pass judgment on a neighbor?
But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. However, the one who looks intently at the perfect law of freedom and perseveres—not forgetting what he has heard but putting it into practice—will be blessed in everything he does.
You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.You shall take heed to observe the commandments of the Lord, your God, and the decrees and statutes that he has given to you.
I will never forget your precepts, for with them, you have revived me.Never will I forget your commands, for through them you have given me life.
He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?Does God give you the Spirit and work mighty deeds among you because you have kept the Law or because you believed what you have heard?

Yahweh’s law is perfect, restoring the soul. Yahweh’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple. The law of the Lord is perfect, affording refreshment to the soul. The decree of the Lord is worthy of trust, imparting wisdom to the simple.
