The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. | The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. |
Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. | The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. |
Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success. | Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. |
The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord. | Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. |
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. | But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. |
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. | A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. |
Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. | For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. |
Loyalty makes a person attractive. It is better to be poor than dishonest. | The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. |
The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth. | Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. |
I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ | And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? |
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. | Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. |
For the Lord is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king. He will care for us and save us. | For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us. |
But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. | Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. |
He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! | He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. |
Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold. | A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. |
Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. | And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. |
What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord. | And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. |
He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. | He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. |
