Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. | So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” |
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. | So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. |
Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. | Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do. |
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. | But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. |
