- A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger. - The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. - For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning. - He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. - ‘Return, backsliding Israel,’ says the Lord;
‘I will not cause My anger to fall on you.
For I am merciful,’ says the Lord;
‘I will not remain angry forever.’ - So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm. - “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.
- Who is a God like You,
Pardoning iniquity
And passing over the transgression
of the remnant of His heritage?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in mercy. - He who is slow to wrath has great understanding,
But he who is impulsive exalts folly. - A fool vents all his feelings,
But a wise man holds them back. - And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
- So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- A fool’s wrath is known at once,
But a prudent man covers shame. - You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
- The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down. - Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil.
- Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.
- Hear my prayer, O Lord,
And give ear to my cry;
Do not be silent at my tears;
For I am a stranger with You,
A sojourner, as all my fathers were. - Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone.
- So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
- For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor, if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt, then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.
- Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.
- Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil.Next verse!With image For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.Personal Bible reading plan
