| One who conceals hatred has lying lips, And one who spreads slander is a fool. | Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool. |
| Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. | God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. |
| Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe. | Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. |

You shall not take vengeance, nor hold any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord. | Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. |
| And the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. | If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. |
| Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not to have quarrels over opinions. | Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. |
| Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it. | Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. |
| And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God must also love his brother and sister. | And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. |
| And He said to them, “Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.” | Then he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.” |
| One who is on the path of life follows instruction, But one who ignores a rebuke goes astray. | People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. |
| One who walks in integrity walks securely, But one who perverts his ways will be found out. | People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed. |
| Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. | Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. |
| Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, the one who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. | I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me. |

For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. | So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it! For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. |
| For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up! | If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. |
| The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ | Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ |
| So it shall be when he becomes guilty of one of these things, that he shall confess that in which he has sinned. | When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin. |
