For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. | Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. |
Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory. | Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us, for the glory of God. |
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. | So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. |
Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit. | Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. |
For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. | There is one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one hope of your calling. |
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. | Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you also are doing. |
Let my teaching fall on you like rain; let my speech settle like dew. Let my words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants. | May my teaching drip as the rain, My speech trickle as the dew, As droplets on the fresh grass, And as the showers on the vegetation. |
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. | As iron sharpens iron, So one person sharpens another. |
This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. | This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. |
For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! | For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light. |
Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. | And walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. |
For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” | For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” |
No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. | I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you. |
May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us or abandon us. | May the Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us nor forsake us. |
But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. | And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you remain in Him. |
As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should! | I will give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. |
As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching. | But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. |
Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. | Because Your favor is better than life, My lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. |
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. | Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. |
For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ | For in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His descendants.’ |
