He went into the house of God (during the days when Abiathar was high priest) and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat. He also gave some to his companions.” Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!”One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.He must increase, but I must decrease.

The rich can pay a ransom for their lives, but the poor won’t even get threatened.Wealth is a ransom for a person's life, but the poor get no threats.
Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm.
A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.A perverse person spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
