Whenever you fast, do not assume a gloomy expression like the hypocrites who contort their faces so that others may realize that they are fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. | And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. |
This is how we can be certain that we abide in him and that he abides in us: he has given us a share in his Spirit. | By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. |
